Do you happen to be using Norton antivirus?
There has been a problem with a recent Norton update this past week which causes duplicated chat posts & group notices etc and some people are also getting disconnected frequently who are suffering the Norton problem.
Please see issue BUG-11891 for the Norton problem.
If you are using Norton then please try the following: Completely remove Norton using the official Norton uninstall utility, which you can get here: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/uk/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us
After Norton has been uninstalled with the above utility, then you may reinstall Norton as normal. Duplicate Second Life messages should be gone at this point.

Steps to Reproduce
I was logging into the club which I work at
Actual Behavior
The other day, I had difficulties logging into my account. When I finally was able to log in, I saw that everything said to me in open chat, IMs, groups, and notifications was being duplicated.
Expected Behavior
I was expecting a single line of text/chat/notices, not duplicates of everything
Other information
If this is an issue that has been resolved before, please let me know. My searches for an answer has been inadequate.
