[BUG-134191] Volumetric Lighting

How would you like the feature to work?

volumetric lighting coming from the sun/moon (hell maybe even from projector lights if possible) I know niranv dean has given us volumetric lighting through the black dragon viewer but I wish to see what linden labs can do. (though i don't expect great things...)

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

would look fantastic and bring scenes to life a little more.

and because I didn't see any other jira requesting this. I think it would be a graphical setting people would love.

Hi Ghost,

Will you please provide a better description of what you mean by Volumetric Lighting? The team is curious to know. Including screenshots, links to technical descriptions etc. would be welcome.

....really... volumetric lighting is what others may call godrays (but it's technically called volumetric lighting)

I mean... sansar uses volumetric lighting for sun effects... so surely you guys know what it is. if not, that's baffling. could have even done a simple google search of the term. I honestly don't know how much clearer I can be considering alot of people who play games know what it is already.
