[BUG-202986] Unlock of linden skeletal constraints #3226

How would you like the feature to work?

Hi

As many of you should know there's a limit to how big or small the linden skeleton/shape can go. This has caused a lot of controversy for those in SL that try to make very large avatars or very small ones. In many ways they have to "cheat" the system to get this to happen. Also this makes it harder to animate these avatars once made. I am proposing that the limit of avatar size be unlocked. This will help content creators with making new content and allow them to make use of the bento system for rigging larger and smaller avatars easier.

Now I know there's a worry about how will estate managers handle a random griefer person from teleporting onto their land and stomping on everyone at 100 feet in size. For this I propose the solution of adding avatar size limits to land settings. This will mean that estate owners can choose whether they allow anyone on their land that might be too big.

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

Please consider this option. SL has been around for over a decade and I believe this could be a good improvement for content creators and the many that have interest in modifying their avatar this way. There is Large community of people on SL that in particular like to make their avatars larger. Allowing them an easier way to do this will help grow this community

So I had a thought on how this could be achieved. All we really need is an extra slider that magnifies the size of everything by percentage. So the relative size of everything is in the same proportions, just the avatar itself can be made bigger or smaller. I haven't heard anything more on the progress on this subject other than the mention it was accepted. It would be nice to know if this will make it though to second life in a future update anytime soon. I really think this could be a wonderful addition to second life communities and avatar creation.

So I was wondering if I can follow up on this issue. Is there a way to track where we are with progress?

Hello hikiera,

Our product team makes the decisions to pick which new features are selected for the roadmap. Those decisions are influenced by many factors, so it is difficult to determine when any feature request may finally end up on the list of things to be implemented.

The best way to check whether your request is included in a future viewer is to keep an eye on the release notes of our Release Candidates (RCs) which you can keep tabs on at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers

Thanks!
