I have a question about this. In the release notes at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Project_BakesOnMesh/5.1.3.513936, it says:
If a mesh face is set to show a baked texture but is not attached to an avatar, you will see a default baked texture. If you are using an older viewer without bakes on mesh support, then faces set to show baked textures will also display as the default baked texture, and base mesh regions will not be hidden.
I'm not seeing this default baked texture - when viewing baked textures on non-BOM viewers or viewing a dropped BOM attachment on the BOM viewer, I just see an invalid grey texture.
Is this supposed to work on 5.1.3.513936? Ta!

I talked to Dan & he showed me a snapshot of how my BOM avatar looked to him on the default LL viewer & he was seeing the default BOM textures. What Dan correctly saw: https://prnt.sc/izur6s
I was still seeing the invalid grey textures on default LL release, so Dan told me to clear my viewer cache. Cache clear did not fix the problem. Alexa also reproduced the cache clear not fixing the problem - she was still seeing the invalid grey textures for the BOM areas of my avatar.

I thought the problem was going to be that the invalid grey BOM textures are stored in texture_list_last.xml & texture_list_home.xml, which are stored in C:\Users\Whirly\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\whirly_fizzle Logging out & deleting both files and relogging on default release did not fix the problem. I still see the BOM textures as invalid grey. http://prntscr.com/izuzoo
When using the BOM viewer, I also see dropped BOM attachments as invalid grey, even when they were dropped that session.
Soooooo, why is this working for Dan but not working for Myself & Alexa?

How do I do that? I poked through my texture cache & not seeing a grey texture that's 1x1 in size. I can see it's 1x1 opaque by doing CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+T I don't know how to snag a UUID unless the texture is in cache :D Well, without compiling a viewer with a patch to expose UUIDs....

Maybe Alexa can do it? She can repro it & I presume she can get the texture UUID in God mode?

If you are seeing a 1*1 texture, then those are old default bakes. I will look into this.

Anchor, I just tested on a different computer - my new laptop which is barely a week old & has never had an SL viewer installed on it - so zero chance of any cache or settings corruption. On default LL release, I still see the grey 1x1 texture for bakes on mesh.

Today on Aditi on Animesh 4 region using Second Life Project Animesh 5.1.3.513013 (64bit), I'm seeing the default BOM textures. eg) https://prnt.sc/j1fly7
I logged out of Aditi & into Agni on the same viewer build Now I'm able to see some default BOM textures, but not others. eg) https://prnt.sc/j1g8ck Here I see the Baked upper & baked lower, but not the baked head.
I believe I don't see the baked head texture because noone was wearing a head bake on Aditi so I didn't get this texture cached.
I logged out, wiped my texture cache & relogged on the same viewer to Agni and now all the BOM textures are back to being the 1x1 grey. https://prnt.sc/j1gauu
So, for me, this works on Aditi, but not on Agni. I suspect the only reason this worked for Dan initially on Agni is he had the BOM textures cached from Aditi testing. Yesterday Dan was also seeing my BOM textures as 1x1 grey on Agni.
How would you like the feature to work?
Add default textures to Bakes on Mesh
Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?
Will allow anyone to quickly identify when Bakes on Mesh is in use.
