Hi Theresa, Please add some screenshots of the alpha mode you are and are not able to set.

AlphaMode1: Full alpha mode options allowed on cube textured with bake when the cube is worn.

AlphaMode2: The same cube after being dropped. There's no option to set an alpha mode.

Does this "break" the attachment? If you drop it to the ground, then wear it again has the alpha mode information been reset and/or lost?

The alpha mode that was set is not lost after dropping & reattaching or taking off & reattaching.

However, this does reproduce a problem.
Wear a box & texture with a bake.
Set Alpha mode on the box to alpha masking or emissive mask.
Detach box.
Rez box inworld
Attach box from ground.
Observed - Alpha mode has changed to None. Only repros for alpha masking & emissive mask. Alpha blending does not reproduce the bug.
Steps to Reproduce
Wear an object. Texture it with a bake. See that you can freely set the alpha mode on it.
Actual Behavior
Drop the object (if possible) or detach it and then rezz it. You will be unable to set any alpha mode on it.
Expected Behavior
As an object displaying a texture bake can be set to have a specific alpha mode, it should be possible to set an alpha mode when the object is not being worn.
Other information
I'm guessing this is because the placeholder textures may be 24-bit, while the avatar bake is 32 bit.
