[BUG-225080] Temporary custom windlight handouts for show and event lighting effects

How would you like the feature to work?

It would be great to be able to hand out custom windlight day cycles ahead of entertainment events in the same way we give out group invite links or SLURLs in chat, or perhaps install them from a notecard.

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

As I understand it, if I create a custom day cycle, only I can see it because it won't be in anyone else's preset list. If we could give out a click-to-install link to one or more custom day cycles, we could trigger these cycles as lighting effects in shows -setting the sky on fire, changing the speed and direction of clouds, etc. With a little imagination, spectacular effects could be achieved right on cue. I realize that the preset list could get pretty long if artists made a lot of use of this feature, so perhaps it could be a temporary preset that disappears from the list after a relog? I believe this is already coming soon with the revamp of the way windlight works. I know windlight presets will become a inventory item, but if I recall correctly, LSL experiences will be able to control windlight as well!

Thank you very much for your suggestion Semalina, and we agree this is a fantastic idea. In fact we already have a feature like this very much in the works. Keep your eye out for the EEP viewer. It should be ready for public testing on the beta grids very soon and will be rolling out the the main grid a short time after.

Inara Pey did a fantastic blog post when the project was first announced.
