The upcoming EEP project allows us to change the textures of the sun, moon, and clouds. If we were able to change our sky texture in a similar manner, we would be able to create our own sky variations.
For example, a city sim build could utilize a windlight sky texture that has buildings off in the distance, creating an illusion of scale, or an outer space sim can have a starry space texture as their sky.
This scale is presently unachievable with megaprims, as avatars can approach the edge of megaprims, but not the edge of the Second Life sky.
Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?
This feature would allow for more versatility in sim building, as cities can me made much larger, more natural or forested regions could have mountains as part of their sky texture, adding to their existing surrounds. This feature would allow for more detail on Second Life regions.
