The search menu button is over my Lindens. my lindens are still there but blocked by the search menu button, since the last update of this version. And for my lindens to appear I have to press the search button several times otherwise I can not buy an object

What were you doing when it happened?

You need more L$

What were you expecting to happen instead?

The exact number of my lindens! :-P

I just tried the official version Second Life Release 6.2.3.527758 (64bit), and indeed I have exactly the same problem.

Can the problem be caused by incorrect resolution configuration or the faulty Graphics drivers?

My display resolution is : 1920 x 1080 >> Window size: 1920x1017

Thanks for checking that, I removed the EEP tag as this happens on the default release viewer.

My system information shows the Window Size is 1920 x 1021 & my display resolution is 1920 x 1080. I'm using Windows 7.

I don't think this is the problem though.

I suspect a settings wipe may fix the problem, but can you upload your settings before you wipe them. Browse to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife Open the user_settings settings folder. Inside the user-Settings folder, you will see a file called settings.xml. Attach settings.xml to this JIRA issue using More Actions -> Attach Files. settings.xml are all your global settings that affect all your accounts.

Go back to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife Open the folder with the name of your avatar - it should be named surfaqua_oh Inside the surfaqua_oh folder, you should see a file called settings_per_account.xml Upload settings_per_account.xml to this JIRA issue using More Actions -> Attach Files.

Then go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming While not logged into the viewer, rename the SecondLife folder to SecondLife_old. Then login & see if that has fixed the problem. Renaming the SecondLife folder will reset all your settings to the default.

If this does not fix the problem then while not logged into the viewer, you can just delete the SecondLife folder in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming and rename the SecondLife_old folder back to SecondLife to get all your old settings back. If renaming the folder does fix the problem, hopefully myself, or someone else, can see what the cause of the problem is in your settings files.

Hi Surfaqua,

So far none of us have been able to reproduce this issue. It is clear that the Search field is overlapping the Linden $ balance.

I think we need your Second Life viewer logs at this point. Please reproduce the login failure and then before relaunching the viewer, zip up your viewer logs folder and attach it to this issue using More Actions -> Attach files. This page tells you where to find the logs folder: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-report-a-bug/ta-p/733545#Section_.3

Press the Info Provided button when you have updated this report.

Thanks!

Everything looks normal in the logs to my eye. Can you please attach the file named settings.xml in C:\Users\PC-S1\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\user_settings\ Thanks :)

Hiya Surfaqua,

Please can you attach your per account settings file. This is located at C:\Users\PC-S1\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\surfaqua_oh\settings_per_account.xml Thanks!

Neither Kyle nor myself could see anything in your global settings file (settings.xml) that looked like it could cause this problem.

If you have any alt accounts, do you have the same broken top menu bar layout when you are logged in with the alt?

Hi Whirly Fizzle, I added the settings_per_account.xml in attachment

I look at two other accounts, Surfaqua resident and Jules Clip and you are absolutely right: these other two accounts have no the problem only Surfaqua Oh have the problem.

Thanks. I replaced my settings_per_account.xml with the one you attached & I still can't reproduce this issue.

While logged out of the viewer, delete the settings_per_account.xml file in C:\Users\PC-S1\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\surfaqua_oh\

The login with Surfaqua Oh. Does that fix the problem?

Surfaqua Oh commented at 2019-07-28T22:00:15Z

I erased the file, I erased my favorites in my bar and no I still have the problem,

I just found how to make appear the amount of my L $> I give myself a linden via an alt and my money appears, it repairs only temporarily the problem, because I am obliged to connect an alt at the same time as surfaqua Oh every time I want to use my lindens .

I do not understand why on my alts the problem is not there, I try every day to know the difference between my main avatar and my alts! That they have my alts that I would not have? or the contrary!

If you have ideas, I'm interested!

Hi Surfaqua,

I spoke with our devs and we had some more suggestions to try.

Setup: Go to Me > Preferences > Advanced and check 'Show Develop Menu' and 'Show Advanced Menu' then click OK.

  1. Go to Advanced and select 'Set UI size to Default' Did this resolve the issue? If not try the next step.

  2. Go into Mouselook (press M) or use a mouse scroll wheel to zoom all the way in, then leave Mouselook (press M again). Did you see anything odd while in mouselook? Does exiting mouselook reset your menu bar display and fix the position of the Search field? If not please do the following.

  3. Go into Develop > UI > Debug Views You'll now see lines everywhere defining the screen layout with some other information useful to us. Please take a screen shot of this view and attach the image to this issue. Uncheck Debug Views to turn it off.

Once these steps have been taken please update this issue with the results.

Thanks!

Hi Surfaqua,

Upon review our developers believe there is an identifiable issue which can be fixed. I'm importing this issue as a result but will leave it open for further comment.

Thanks!

Hello, Surfaqua, can you please confirm that fix in this test build fixes 'field position' issue for you? http://automated-builds-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/ct2/41392/361438/Second_Life_Test_6_2_4_529736_x86_64_Setup.exe Note: build has issues and a lot of untested fixes, so I don't recommend using it regularly.

Hi AndreyK ProductEngine and Kyle Linden and Whirly Fizzle

I confirm: It's perfect the amount of my lindens is visible again. When I connect I see L $ ?? then my lindens appear after 1 second

It's cool that you found the problem I will wait for the version regularly I supose in the next update :-)

Thank you,  you did a good job

Thanks for confirmation.

in the next update Sorry, but it is unlikely to come in next update, it needs to go through testing and some other procedures first, that all will take a while (and we have some CEF issues that will likely hold the process).

You can turn off 'search field' to avoid this issue until it gets fixed:

  1. Go to Me->Preferences
  2. In preferences find tab 'Advanced' and there a checkbox 'Show advanced menu' and make sure it is enabled. Click Ok
  3. Now the menu at the top will have new option called 'Advanced', open it and select 'Show debug settings'
  4. Print in "MenuSearch" and set it to False once option appears Now menu should be no longer visible, and you should be able to reactivate it later in same way (or by resetting settings to defaults).

Hi Surfaqua,

Given the update that your L$ balance was showing "??" it points at another issue leading up to this bug, that anyone else may stumble into. Your inventory is rather large and "flat" meaning lots of Folders below My Inventory and not organized into sub-folders. Upon reviewing your logs we could see that your log in time was significantly delayed "creating inventory views" which is a strong indicator of the problem. In addition you also have over 140 corrupt inventory items.

For the corruption you can contact support and ask them fix your inventory easily. For the large flat inventory you have options.

  1. Ask support to run another script to "unflatten" your inventory for you. It will take groups of inventory and automatically put them into subfolders.
  2. Manually clean up and organize your inventory to your liking. Another way to think about this is whether you want to organize your closet or let a robot do it for you?

That should make your login quick and prevent the L$ ?? balance from appearing and resolve the entire issue. In the mean time as Andrey said, we'll work the fix into a future viewer.

Thanks!
