[BUG-228957] 3D mouse support cuts out after about 2 minutes #6929

Open sl-service-account opened 4 years ago

sl-service-account commented 4 years ago

What just happened?

I flew around for about 2 minutes, using my SpaceMouse Pro, and then the 3D mouse support suddenly vanished, leaving me unable to control my avatar with the 3D mouse.

What were you doing when it happened?

As I said, I was just flying around.

What were you expecting to happen instead?

I was expecting to be able to fly around as long as I wanted to.

Other information

I'm sorry for the size of the file I've attached to this issue. I didn't cut it short, because I didn't want to risk cutting lines that might help you understand the issue. Also, you may notice that this is from Firestorm. I've tried this with the standard SL viewer, but the same thing happened.

Hi Vulcan,

Thank you for the report. Will you please provide the same information against the official Second Life viewer so we can investigate further. Otherwise we will have to refer you to FireStorm for further assistance.

Thanks!

I managed to capture some of the output of the SL Viewer for you, but I can only hope that it contains what you need.

Hi Vulcan,

So far we have been unable to reproduce this issue, our 3D mouse controls stay functional beyond 2 minutes.

Using the official Second Life release viewer, we default you to HiDPI mode, which you can see increased your resolution to over 5k. Please launch the Second Life viewer and open Me > Preferences > Graphics > Advanced, then untick "Enable support for HiDPI displays" and then click OK until you are out of Preferences. Finally restart the SL viewer.

Does the issue still happen? If yes, then please reopen Me > Preferences > Move & View > Other Devices, then try toggling Enable Joystick to off, then press the Button for SpaceNavigator Defaults, click OK, then toggle Enable Joystick to on.

Does the issue still happen? Please let us know.

Thanks!

I've tried what you suggested with both the SL Viewer and Firestorm and I saw exactly the same thing happening again.

Hi Kyle,

Long story short... The 3Dconnexion driver I had to update to is a Beta version. It functions either badly or not at all. It looks like I'll have to wait until 3Dconnexion offers a proper version of that driver.
