How would you like the feature to work?
I would like for there to be the option and ability to formally have more than one partner in Second Life.
Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?
Being that Second Life has many users that consider themselves to be polyamorous and have multiple, 2, 3, etc., partners, I think that it is important that Linden Labs recognize the poly communities/families and allow for there to be more than one official partner. I believe that this is a subject that is very important to many members in SL. It is about being able to take pride in displaying the name of your partners, in showing that there is equality between the partners. We are able to "marry" more than one person in SL, so it is only fitting that we should be able to have more than one official partner. I am in a throuple and we have been faced a few times now where people question the validity of my partnership to our husband because it is not my name that is in his partner box. Those of us that are polyamorous deserve to have our love recognized and the ability to show our pride in our family as much as those that are couples. It is not something that should have to be explained to people or required to be written in your profile (which people may or may not read) for others to know that you are Poly and that you have more than one partner/husband/wife, etc. I love Second Life for the fact that you can be and express yourself openly and however you choose to. If a person wishes to partner to a same sex avi they can, if their love happens to be a furry, they can officially partner, a dog avi can be partnered to a cow avi if two people so choose to represent themselves in such a manner and these are all able to be celebrated and the names of the partner be right there in the Partner box, displayed with pride, however those of us that have more than one love, one partner, are not given the ability or option to do the same for each. I do hope that you will consider this suggestion and will make it possible for us to have more than one official partner.
