I believe this is a case of expected behavior, though I have some advice for you.
First, please update your Second Life Viewer, version 6.4.11 is a bit older now. https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer/6.4.18.558266.html
Second, I think you'll find our Camera Presets feature (the camera icon by the time in the top-right corner of the viewer) will allow you to save a narrow camera angle and save it as a custom setting for use in any situation, walking, sitting or piloting a vehicle.
Please let me know if using a Camera Preset resolves your concerns and press the Info Provided button when you reply.

What just happened?
for travelling in SL and avoiding personal lag by loading too much i reduce my view angle to 0.75. Newest SL Viewer Version set that back to 1.04 everytime i click on the avi buttons in cam control.
What were you doing when it happened?
I was sailing in SL waters (sailboat race), but when i try to control a boat in a race i cant open preferences and set it back to my value.
What were you expecting to happen instead?
The View Angle value i set in preferences stays until i change it and it should be a value to set in Graphics like Drawing Distance, so i can save different View Angles in different profiles.
