This has been an issue for me more times than I would like to take the time to count. and was wondering when it would get fixed. Thankyou for bringing this to LindenLabs attention.
I think this is one reason a lot of people have been abandoning in-world groups and looking for solutions in applications like Discord. I think an overall rework of in-world groups could help the community at large and keep people more engaged while in-world rather than people continuing to find solutions to their problems off-world.

Thank you for the report. We would like to dig in the logs and need some pieces of information
Alexandra Melune commented at 2021-11-10T23:33:28Z
It happens to everyone @Caleb - anytime anyone gets an offline invite for any group in Second Life, if you click to join it when you are online next, you will never be added to it. Ever. It doesn't matter who/where sent it or who/where receives it. And it's for all groups.
OMGWTF Barbecue commented at 2021-11-11T00:20:06Z
@Caleb:
I reproduced the issue so I could give you specifics:
if possible could you get re-invited and state the date and time, please? Tested this issue 6:15pm 11/10/21

Completely ridiculous that I have to have two accounts logged on at the same time to add an alt to a land group, but that is still where we are with no apparent prospect of it being fixed.
Bren Dovgal commented at 2022-01-24T06:55:00Z
This is still a problem. What needs to happen for LL to take action and investigate? Its so frustrating. And it seems its not an isolated event, everyone has the same result.
Voshie Paine commented at 2022-01-26T19:01:18Z
Why is this still needing more info? Even Lindens for their own events have to secretly leave their designer set up groups open in order for people to be able to join the group while offline.

This is such a big problem. The group invites come and I accept but it never adds me to the group, no matter what group it is. This happens with every group. I'm always having to write the event organizers to send me a new group invite just because this bug is not being fixed. I can't be online 24/7 or sit around and wait for a group invite to come through. Please try to do something about this. It's rather embarrassing for me to keep pestering people to resend a new group invite, not to mention it is incredibly annoying to have to continually resend group invites myself. This needs attention. Thank you. ♥
For more information on just one instance that this happened, since it has happened multiple times with different groups, but to add more info here is one situation:

If both users are online at the time of acceptance, the group invite seems to work, (even if the invite was sent previously, though maybe not always). If the sender is offline at the time of acceptance, the invite will vanish and no group is joined.
It happens to groups of all sizes, any region from my experience. (Friend requests seem to do the same thing for me.) I have tried on official and third party viewers with groups and it does it on multiple viewers. If the sender is offline, the requests to join/add disappear, not even don't work, just vanish. It does not matter if you have no group tag active or a group tag active at time of accept, the error still occurs. Agree with all of the above and would love to see this one fixed, it is so important for events!

Group invites never go through if recipients are offline. This is a huge problem that needs to be fixed.
Taliah Darwin commented at 2022-01-26T20:00:28Z
Please work on this. It's not just stores that have this problem, this also effects events, rp sims, charities and pretty much anything that requires a group.

Can confirm this is for 100% of group invites (and friend requests) sent offline for all users and groups in SL. Monthly/semi-annual events often need to make sure 100+ users are in a group and with international timezones it's a huge challenge to try to catch them online 1 by 1. Hoping this will be addressed soon after over a year of this issue. (Related report from 2020: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-229227)

How come this issue is not fixed yet and no one is assigned to it? It used to work in past, it is a bug that is easy to be reproduced, so what is the problem for not fixing it ?
So both people have to be online in order to be invited to a group, despite SL is around the world you might understand that hours difference is a huge aspect.
Same goes for friendship offer when one is offline, surely comes from the same source of issue.
Hope this helps, but you are starting to create troubles in-world and disappointed premium members !

I dunno why this got tacked onto an OLD supposedly fixed (triaged) bug report, when obviously this is still an ongoing problem now.
veronika.beningborough commented at 2022-02-08T22:03:35Z, updated at 2022-02-08T22:03:44Z
Same thing happens with offline friends requests.
Intoxicate commented at 2022-02-08T22:21:11Z
I'm curious as to why this is not being prioritized. Enough information has been given to easily reproduce the issue. The SL economy collectively relies on the usage of groups, whether it be for land management, events, store groups, etc. Why is this on a backburner?
Shae Sixpence commented at 2022-02-08T23:43:12Z
Confirming the above and also adding that offline friend requests do not go through either.
Bcreative Wilde commented at 2022-02-09T16:19:04Z
I've been dealing with this all week as a designer trying to join closed invite only groups and as an event owner trying to invite people. This needs fixed. It is not easy to get invites to people with time zone conflicts.
Trixie Lanley commented at 2022-02-11T06:39:07Z
Is this even being worked on? It's unbelievably inconvenient and easily reproducible. The number of times I've had to request group invitations again and again is enough to make someone not even want to log in.
Intoxicate commented at 2022-04-24T18:35:37Z
This Jira has been open for 5 months as "needs more info" status.
You've been able to reproduce the issue. What more information could you possibly need?
Why is this still being back-burnered?
What just happened?
If you receive a group invite while offline, upon logging in, you can accept the dialogue to join the group, but ultimately you will not be added to the group.
What were you doing when it happened?
Sending group invites to Residents who are offline.
What were you expecting to happen instead?
Residents should be able to log in, see a group invitation pending, and accept it to be added to the group.
Other information
This is a major issue for event organizers and business owners, who are now having to re-send group invites over and over, and trying to coordinate times to be online with people in different timezones so a group invite will not fail. Invites to closed/private groups are very important for many business owners.
