[BUG-100503] New Default volume for Streaming Music & Media #89

How would you like the feature to work?

I am requesting that the default volume, for streaming music and video to be adjusted to a lower setting.

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

This is a request for a new default volume, to be set to much lower default volume setting. Such as on a scale of 1 to 10, something more like two or 3 to provide a much more enjoyable first log in experience on the Linden Viewer. As well as to help, greeters at the various portal entry points to better help new residents upon their entry into second life. So that new residents attention can be obtained easier, to assist them with learning how to do things in Second Life. As well as to help reduce new residents of being seen less offensively by older users, when they instantly teleport out of the Linden Lab Entry point or other third party entry points to various clubs in second Life. So that new residents, are less disruptive when logging in to events, at various clubs that may have a "LIVE" music performance or active DJ stream for various club events.

This is related to SEC-2060, which I filed but was closed by Soft Linden, as being filed improperly. So "PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE THIS AS A DUPLICATE", as this is a jira that is file to help remind Grumpity Linden, about the volume adjustments for streaming media, that was requested at the TPV meetings. So please assign this to Grumpity Linden.

I agree that this would be a good idea. New residents cannot hear voice at all with the present volume settings. I understand that music, media, and also sounds are a part of the experience but so is voice.I see many new residents who are asking how to turn music and media off as it is a distraction from SL itself.

Ed I agree as I have landed on regions, to have new users come waltzing into the a club, after landing on the sim with streaming music blaring through an open mic, that they also do not know how to close. And have also gone to regions, to land hearing streaming music blaring over a live mic, only to find it be some new user who teleported directly out of the Linden Lab entry point to an adult region and are totally unaware of how to turn streaming music off, as well as close an open mic. And I have had the same thing happen, with new and old users who have returned to second life, that landed in an open discussion only to be totally disruptive to everyone else s experiences. And while I do understand that music, media and all sounds are part of SL. The current level of volume for streaming music and media, has an extremely negative impact on everyone's experience. And often result's in estate and parcel owners issuing an instant ban, by wrongfully mistaking new and older users who are returning from long absences from SL as engaging in Griefing.
