[BUG-232326] Edit controls for BOM alpha layers #9623

How would you like the feature to work?

In addition to being able to use images for creating alpha layers, I'd love to be able to create, or modify, alpha layers using in-viewer controls like on some other BOM layers and bodyparts, using sliders. For example adjusting how far in from the top of the arm, and how far from the wrist on up from the hand that I wish to hide, and perhaps from the middle as well. If we have these controls it would then be possible to combine (stacking) alpha layers to achieve quite advanced alpha layers without ever leaving the viewer, and in an intuitive WYSIWYG way.

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

Today the alpha layers are either all on or all off, for the major parts of the avatar, unless one is uploading an image file. With the introduction of BOM, alpha layers have again become popular to use, for some mesh bodies it's the only way to hide parts of the body nowadays while for some it's used in addition to the controls in a HUD. It can be a complicated process to get it right with image files, with a lot of switching between programs when working on it. And small differences in shape or clothing can leave unwanted gaps or break-throughs in clothing, so a quick and easy way to adjust alpha layers as needed would be very helpful.

What a great idea. This would really help with making a lot of created content easier to use since often alpha masks or even body hud's don't work well enough for some builds. Often I will not purchase objects that are for avatars because of break throughs, it would be great to eliminate that problem with something like this.

This would be great, especially for people just learning how to work with BOM or someone wanting to do something qickly.
