Environment

Second Life

Description

Hardware - Texture Memory (MB)

Debug Settings TextureMemory Amount of memory to use for textures in MB (0 = autodetect)

Ctrl+P , Preferences - Graphics - Advanced Settings - Advanced Graphics Preferences.

0 doesn't seem to work keeps resetting to 512 option seems to be locked and capped at 512 will not allow higher would like unlocked need 3072 minimum and idealistically over 5120 for 512 draw distance plus and can use over 10240 easily for increasing draw distance and performance

on average Second Life can easily use around 3000MB VRAM

video cards start at around 8000MB - 24000MB VRAM today on desktop and 6000MB - 16000MB mobile GeForce 40 series https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_40_series https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/40-series/

Debug Settings TextureMemory

I see no such debug setting, there is RenderMaxVRAMBudget for controlling memory.

0 doesn't seem to work keeps resetting to 512

Develop brach has changes to better detect avaliable memory and has VRAM adjusted changes. Since you haven't provided environment, I'm not sure what viewer you are using, so I assume you are on an OS Windows and an older viewer.

Environment

Please, provide 'environment'. Viewer version, OS, driver, etc.
