I am concerned about the implied workflow this UI layout would encourage as it would have backend ramifications as well.

Firestorm's tabbed UI makes it seem that there is no meaningful difference between a PBR Material and the PBR Override slots and parameters. This sets up a scenario where a user would make a new material and then assign textures to the slots and set parameters, thinking it behaves like BlinnPhong.
