6 months ago The material swatch preview ignores other properties on the prim face like material overrides.
Seems like a correct behavior to me:
- It's a tool for working with a base material, not overrides.
- Texture picker doesn't show any modifiers like repeats or transparency either
- Seeing actual base material is probably desirable so that user won't have to check how that looks in inventory or by switching amterials
The material swatch preview ignores other properties on the prim face like material overrides.
For example, a shiny yellow material with a red base color material override will display as a shiny red material on the prim, but the material swatch preview in the inventory will display the shiny yellow base material.
This is perhaps the correct behavior, but opening a ticket for discussion.
