Right now the model used by VAP is made after Alexa and Hermes, a classical action model, in which there's little state management or extra functionality wich have to be provided by the skills themselves.

Some alternatives/ideas:

Google model: Google uses scenes in their assistant, https://developers.google.com/assistant/conversational/scenes?hl=en
Genie (formerly Almond) has a cool idea of adding Queries and Signals along with Actions.

Genie model means that you can ask your assistant to "send a cat picture to myfriend@email.com that you want at 12:00", and the assistant will connect the cat pciture generator skill, the email skill and the timer skill for everything to be made as you want. In exchange for all the coolness it is a complext task on the NLU.
