Background color stays terminal default #1

When I apply the configs from this project, I see my tmux status line take the correct colors, but the rest of the terminal background stays the same as it was before (in my case, black). Did you have to do specific terminal configuration to achieve your screenshots?

I've setup this within the terminal emulator since most of the available emulators allow for setting background color.

Could you please publish your settings for this? There doesn't seem to be a 256 color variant of the Putty configs in the main solarized project.

oh sorry, I do not use putty (windows) but sakura and gnome-terminal (both gtk based linux terminals).

I am also having this problem with urxvt (installed from pacman -S rxvt-unicode) on Arch Linux. I believe I am using defaults for any relevant urxvt or tmux colors settings.
