What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to install sshfs downloaded from main project page
What is the expected output?
A single installer file for the whole SSHFS stack that gives the usual
install options (e.g. the free Nullsoft installer). It should check if the
required parts are installed, and if not, install them.
What do you see instead?
A download dated from 2008, with instructions that I need to install two
other packages first, and after an initial failure (I just wanted sshfs
started quickly) an extra package to get the downloaded package patched to
the current library version.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
dokan-sshfs-0.2.0.1226
dokan-0.5.2
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package
dokan_sshfs_for_dokan-050.zip
Windows XP SP3
Please provide any additional information below.
It's really a very small issue that quickly would make a huge difference
in the installed user base. SSHFS is a great filesystem, and many users
have been wanting it for Windows for a long time. Dokan SSHFS works well
enough now and could easily get very popular (like its excellent
counterpart WinSCP). But by not giving the "peripheral features" such as
the installer some real attention casual users are put off. Casual users
are those that pull in active supporters of the code, so don't ignore them.
