As the title says i wanna make it so our python files finally pass the checks set up for our project...

Update: Our linter ruff is raising four issues that need to be adressed. Check the CI .yml file for the errors. Most of them are non defined names and non pythonic code. @redibaj @fabrice-eberle @Sara25s @juldimag
