Updates based on cloning and getting set up with the repo #3

I'm pulling down the repo and getting things set up. I use rbenv and RubyMine right now for development, so I'm making some updates to accommodate those things.

I also aim to get a basic README set up with this PR. I'll let you know when it's good to review, @crebma!
