@heyawhite Thank you for submitting this! It was brought to my attention that the resource I linked initially supports the oppression of Palestinian people, which I do not want this resource to be linked to! As such, I've suggested we remove it in support of the link that informed me of this (https://www.noihra.ca/).
I'm wondering if somewhere we can also make note of how Jewish people can be of many other races/ethnicities such as Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, etc.
I am going to share the definition with the Slack community to see if other folks can weigh in.

I definitely do not want to link to any source that supports oppression of the Palestinian people, and will update to remove reference to it. Definitely a benefit of the JFREJ resource, which is very much more inclusive! I will also link to https://www.noihra.ca/
Not exactly relevant to this definition, but a resource/group of interest is If Not Now which has been foundational in my own understanding.

That was something I played with in earlier (unsubmitted drafts), and I think I agree with you that it's important. By leaving it undefined, we are letting folks insinuate a lack of inclusion rather than the true spectrum of "who is a Jew". Updates for that coming soon.

👍🏻
@tatianamac another thing of note in the complication of "who is a Jew" is covered here (which, came from a footnote in the JFREJ resource): https://globaljews.org/resources/research/counting-jews
The next commit is going to be substantial.
@heyawhite : Sorry for being remiss here. How are you feeling about this definition? Are you comfortable with me merging it in?
@tatianamac no apology warranted -- seriously!! I certainly could have followed up.
I am excited for this to be merged. Go for it.
Ugh, I'm sorry for these small annoyances which cause breaks 😞
No sorries! My frustration isn't with you, it's with the pickiness of markdown. I think we need to do a better job of automating this/making it not the burden of the PR submitter!
Merged in. Thank you so, so much, @heyawhite for a lovely collaboration and definition! I can't wait to promote it! I hope you've had a positive experience. We would love you to come back and welcome any feedback you have.
I can't wait to promote it, too. It was absolutely lovely, and such a treat to work with you. I will certainly return if/when I have the subject matter expertise to do so.
I certainly learned from the markdown pickiness and will be able to do better in the future (I hope)!
