Atom sunset #225

Open UziTech opened 2 years ago

UziTech commented 2 years ago

Github is sunsetting Atom on Dec 15, 2022. After which this plugin will be obsolete.

@travi Do we want to archive this repo and create a note in the readme now? or should we wait until that date and still provide patches?

UziTech commented 2 years ago

same for https://github.com/semantic-release/apm-config as well?

travi commented 2 years ago

i'm ok with waiting until the actual sunset date to archive, but i agree that we should archive both at that point. thank you for your help with these repos! of course, you are more than welcome to continue helping triage, etc on the other repos even after we archive these.

I think it is time to archive the apm repos. (I don't think I have access to do it.) There is a community version of Atom continuing development called pulsar-edit. I am working with them to move these repos to their organization.

i'll take care of getting it archived. thanks for the help along the way and keeping us informed about details like this. please feel free to remain active in the organization. you will continue to have triage access to the other repos in the org and you can always let us know if you're interested in being more involved.

you're obviously welcome to have them fork into their org. feel free to let us know if any help is needed with the transition. we are finally past the major roadblock that slowed our ESM transition, but we are very close to enabling the use of ESM plugins (currently available in the beta version of core), so that should be a possibility for that project soon.
