This could be a class added to all schedules. And toggled by the application state settings.

What I have in mind is a little more complicated than that. It should show up in all rooms and for all faculty in those views and should probably span the entire width of the day in the department schedule view.

It might be implementable as a type of wildcard, but I don't completely understand what the current wildcard feature is supposed to be. It looks to me like you just get something named "*" when you follow the directions in the Add/Update section popover.

Can someone give a better description of what the wildcard system is supposed to be? Is it working as intended now, or do we need to open an issue to improve it?

I'm not sure what a wildcard is either. That was added last year. Eventually, I could look in the codebase, but I'm not sure when I'll have time yet.
