Issue 1: Post one in that thread uses raw mode to insert codetags. When viewed in WYSIWYG, these code tags aren't read: Symbols such as':)' turn into emotions.
Issue 2: Post 2 uses the WYSIWYG-ext plugin, and when selecting the code snippet tool, I pasted into it the same code block (from a text editor), and posted it. You can see how it corrupted the symbols.
So, there are clearly several issues with [code] tags here.
