Repeating events on specific days #20

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Love the new repeating events...but :) It really needs to be able to repeat on
a specific day. For example repeat on the 3rd Monday of each month. Events
most often repeat on the same day, not date.

The recurrence implemented in the Ajax Event Calendar is based on the date,
i.e. if you have an event occurring on Jan 8/12 and want it to reoccur monthly,
it will recur on Feb 8/12.

However, this is not the way that most events reoccur. They generally recur on
a specific day of the week, e.g. on the second Tuesday of the month.

So unfortunately, the implementation of recurring events appears to have been
done in a way that is not particularly useful.

Yes.

I am using "Friday" for my example, but it applies to any day of the week.

Should be able to do: 2nd Friday of the month as indicated above, but it also
needs to be able to do LAST Friday of the month and FIFTH Friday of the month.

Please let me note that overall the repeat function on this calendar WORKS MUCH
BETTER than the numerous other calendars I've worked with.

If these tweaks were added, I don't think there's another calendar around that
could beat this one. Thanks for all of the work.

We have a first Friday event that happens every month. This feature would be
very helpful. If this cannot be implemented, then I would like to be able to
clone the event and modify the date. I can't seem to do this.

It sure would save a lot of time, retyping all the same information over and
over (12 times each)!
reoccurring data could be incorporated with the "category" filled

you can copy an event from the edit event drop down (next to update)- it
creates a duplicate on that same day which you can then open again to edit for
a new date - it saves retyping all that stuff!

I need this as well. It is a MUST feature to have if this calendar want's to
compete. We're not being lazy, we want the plugin to be better. I just
installed, configured and added my first event. Now I'm removing it because I
can't repeat events on a day rather than a date. Bummer. I reeeeeally like this
calendar.

This issue has been circulating since September. Will this be fixed soon? We
are now using Google calendars just for this very reason.
We're waiting!

I'm surprised by your impatience, after all this is a free plugin. I'm sure
you understand paid obligations take priority. Given my current availability,
it's not likely this feature will be added in the near term.

Like numerous others, I have an event (board meeting) that occurs on the second
Thursday of the month, do I had to recreate 12 times. Not a killer, but being
able to specify a specific day each month - or every specified day, like the
second Saturday of the quarter, or every other month would be great!

As everyone else has said, this particular implementation of recurring events
is dreadfully unhelpful. I hope this can be resolved soon. If it is resolved,
then this will be the best calendar hands down.

Great Calendar. But with the ability to do recurring events on a specific day
of the week each month (e.g. 3rd Tuesday), this calendar would be even better.
I'll keep using this calendar and just entering events 12 times. It's still a
great calendar compared to other plugins I tried.

Fantastic news that the recurring events feature will permit specific rules for
monthly (and I presume annual) recurrences. I've only just begun using this
plug-in. So far I'm very impressed. Will donate for sure when the recurring
functionality is updated.

It would be nice to cancel a single event when scheduled reoccurring events are
set up. Repeating events that occur weekly for instance. We have 3 events
that occur every week on the dame day. However, once a quarter we have a
different event that cancels the three weekly events but only for that week.
When we edit the event in Outlook it asks if this is applied to all following
events or only for this instance.

I have an event that occurs monthly however the event takes place on the fourth
Tuesday or fourth Wednesday of every month with exceptions for holidays when it
is moved to another day prior to or after the fourth Tuesday or Wednesday. How
do I make this a repeating event. There are no options that allows me to do
this. I am looking for something that I can customize.

I too have a number of events and meeting that occur via the "2nd Tuesday"
recurrence mode. I now have to enter the same information for every month since

I can't set the recurrence to happen on the 2n Tuesday or 4th Thursday, i.e. I
would like to know if anyone has found a work around or identified a stream of
code that be entered to correct this.

I'd like to see these features too - repeating events on certain days, and also
to remove a repeating event on one particular time (i.e. in case of national
holidays).
But thanks to the developers for this great free plugin. I use the COPY
function to ad repeating dates.

The ability to have reoccurring events that can be scheduled like "1st and 3rd
weekday of month" is crucial to my site. Looks like a great app, but will not
be able to use without this functionality.

One additional item I'd like to be able to specify is the "second-to-last" of a
day, such as "Second-to-Last Friday" (I'd prefer to use "Penultimate Friday",
but "penultimate" is a bit obscure.)

I find that preparing our family on the second-to-last Friday is the most
convenient time for my family. Setting "Second Friday" doesn't work out,
however, because in months that have three Fridays, this is the third-to-last
Friday; this makes setting up the recurring time rather difficult.

I'd love a feature where I could specify a specific date per month. For
example: My car insurance comes due the 13th of every month. I'd love to
specify a reminder for that date of the month to make my payment.
