Hi Prof. Ghosh,
I came across your work when I was researching for a project I am currently working on. My project is to deploy a Mental Health ChatBot into an app that uses long-short term memory networks to remember selectively relevant information for a long time. The objective of this app is to connect people who have experienced some form of abuse.
Here is my quick intro: I am a junior at Lexington High School, MA and am very passionate about computer science, math and physics. I am specifically very interested in AI and cognitive science.
I am seeking summer research opportunities and your research sounds very interesting to me. I have some experience with AI and python programming. I used neural networks as well as convolutional NN in my pneumonia project as part of the AI scholars program where I built a tool that can detect pneumonia if provided with the chest xrays. I realized the joy in research when I successfully completed a summer internship at Schrodinger, a computational software and drug discovery company where I built a tool using Python programming to improve the robustness of chemical searches in drug discovery. I was also accepted into the Harvard University Secondary School Program and took a college level physics course.
I see that there is so much to learn and gain in this fascinating field and I would love to be a part of your research team/lab. I am in high school, but I am a very quick learner and I am eager to help and learn. I am looking for a chance to learn/apply cognitive science/AI/CS/Neuroscience in outside classroom settings.
