Synonymy (and other name relationships) need to be implemented in the system, synonyms include:

I believe that we won't have any cases of homotypic synonym besides the basonyms (!) as the registry has a check/comparison with the existing type genomes (?). It could happen that the author will attempt to register a name based on the genome ID that already serve as a type for another taxon. Do we take into account possibility of different assembly versions and sources (e.g. GenBank vs RefSeq, version .1 or .2)?

I wonder if it could happen that the taxon has been given different names based on the same type genome and published prior to registration (for instance, if authors are naming a taxon based on earlier recovered genome or like Mark naming a species based on GTDB representative genome while someone else can do exactly the same). In such cases, when the authors will register their names, only one of them will be permitted to do so and his name become validated. I am not sure if this is clear to the users but we might need to anticipate such cases in the future...

This has been partially covered by the creation of "correct names" in the model, supported for imports from LPSN, but it's not broadly available yet
