Hi - has anyone looked into this or have any ideas on why the crash occurs?  I 
have the same error using mupen within OpenEmu on OS X (depending on the 
severity of the problem, I may also have time right now to fix this)

I was under the impression the fix would be something to do with LLE or custom 
microcode...

Please use mupen64plus-video-glide64. You can also use 
mupen64plus-rsp-z64-hlevideo to get sound
