RAR part files trouble #165

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
First of all, thank you for a very useful, and neat-looking software!

It would be great to be able to extract RAR part files. So far I've only
managed to extract a part file
bundle once. Most of the times, the Unarchiver tells me it can't do it, and I
have to use another third
party application called "UnRarX".

I've noticed how UnRarX is also non-commercially licensed. Would it be possible
to talk to the
developer of UnRarX, and implement his very much efficient code of handling RAR
files in The
Unarchiver?

Did you try the 2.0 alpha?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
No, the version I'm using is 1.6.1. I had not known about the alpha release. Is
it likely to work with the alpha
version?

There has been a lot of rewrites, and as I've never been able to reproduce this
problem, I'd really like to know if
the new version fixes it. Get it from the download page.

Alright! Nice work! I've just tested it, and the alpha version works with both
RAR part files, and StuffIt SITX files,
too! That's a huge improvement! Thank you.

Is the alpha version stable enough for me to use it reliably on the system?

All right, good to know. The alpha should be pretty stable, except it might
still have some bugs lurking. There
aren't any known bugs, though. A beta and a final release shouldn't be too far
away, either.

Merging with issue 68.
