Downscaled wallpaper is blurry #105

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upload a high resolution (in my case, 1600x1200) backdrop image to the phone
2. Set it as your wallpaper, or some cropped portion thereof, such that the 
image is still higher resolution than the screen.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The wallpaper image should be smoothly scaled down, as it is when running the 
HTC Sense launcher. Instead, the image is blurry.

What version of the product are you using? On what phone? What Android
version?
I think it is 1.1.3. Droid Eris, Android 2.2 (KaosFroyo).

Please provide any additional information below.

Does it look the same if you disable the wallpaper hack in adwsettings/system 
settings?

My observation is the wallpaper is not scaled at all and you see a portion of 
it.
This supported by switching back and forth between tw.launcher and adw.

running v1.3.6 on Samsung Charge 

en/disabling the wallpaper hack has no effect
