Advantages of distributed systems

data persistence / more stable / more transparent
prevents censorship
less server resources
blockchains: transactions are transparent (+ cryptocurrency?)
improved privacy
ownership to the users

Disadvantages

less control
less "value" (considering the company / app / whatever)
