/storage/emulated/0 - empty after android 4.4.2 update #151

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open the app. home is empty.
2. navigate to root, then into home. empty.
3. look in all other folders. empty.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

expect to see root file system. same as when mounting via USB. instead 
everything is empty.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

apv pdf 0.4.0
nexus 7 android 4.4.2 kitkat

Please provide any additional information below.

App worked perfectly on android 4.3, but after the 4.4.2 update the home dir 
(storage/emulated/0) is now empty. other apps can mount this location fine 
after the update (transdroid, es file explore. I have attempted to reinstall 
the app with no luck. please advise, this is my favorite PDF reader.
