I didn't mark Isabel when it is the character name. The one in your list of historical persons is Isabel de Bourbon, wife of Felipe IV.
This has me thinking that maybe your king Felipe in the list is actually the IV and not the II. Hmm. or the III. We'll look at the king passages on Wed.
Isabel de Bourbon's French name is Elisabeth de France.
The king in 1618, the time of publication of the play, is Felipe III
The note in the Gutenberg edition says that the "Felipe and Isabel" mentioned in the play are Felipe IV and Isabel de Bourbon. Phew. They must have been prince/princess when the play was written.
In the list of persons Venus is listed, but its just the name of a painting. Should I still include it in the list?
what is that spanish dictionary website you told me to use again?
Do an entry for Venus, the Roman goddess.
The dictionary is www.rae.es. This is the site of the Real Academia Español, the body of academics that make decisions about the Spanish language.
The dictionary part is the red box on the right. Make sure you're typing the word to look up in the red box, not the white search box that says "buscador" that sits above the blue menu bar on the page.
@setriplette I have two people named Isabel in Cántaro. How do I tell if its Isabella of the royal court or the wife of King Felipe the IV?
