Or should we use some metrics centric database (graphite, ...).

Even with data deduplication on MariaDb entries, it can grow quite a lot because of metric update.

One option could be:

store processor = https://influxdata.com/time-series-platform/influxdb/
perl client = https://metacpan.org/pod/InfluxDB
php client = https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb-php

That was a good idea, but need too much code refactoring for AJAX calls due to cross referencing between MariaDb and InfluxDb. Instead we decided to split tables and add some *Metrics tables for faster query/indexes
