Automation for Nonprofits #3

Open tcfuji opened 9 years ago

One sentence description: Build a high-performance, automated logistics framework for nonprofits.

The Need: Sometimes the complexity and scale nonprofit organizations face cannot be satisfied by pen, paper and calculator alone. A powerful framework that optimizes this process quickly is needed.

Project Needs (dev/design/resources): Currently, the main need is to interview nonprofit managers and discuss the key things they wish were automated. Application (and possibly system) engineers are essential. Front-end engineers will be needed down the road for the interface.

Immediate Steps:

  1. Talk to nonprofit operations and logistics managers in SF about what needs to be automated.
  2. Discuss first steps of the framework.

Pie-in-the-sky: A powerful, easy-to-use framework that makes large-scale planning and logistics efficient and free for all.

Last note: I've been looking for similar open-source frameworks already out there but have not yet found anything promising.

I think this is an awesome idea. I wonder if even simple automation (spreadsheet manipulations, etc) could be useful.

Have you taken any of your immediate steps?

@abutterworth Sorry for the late reply. Had to focus on other things.

I'm friends with the people who founded the foodRev organization and we'll be at the National Day of Civic Hacking in San Francisco working out the specifics. We'll be focusing on vehicle routing using methods of Artificial Intelligence and Dynamic Programming. If you can come by this weekend and help out, we'd really appreciate it!
