Recently, California changed its laws around high school graduation requirements. You no longer need to pass a certain test to graduate. Apparently the change is retroactive, so that those who only needed to pass that test now qualify.
NPR says that there are thousands of people who all of the sudden could get their diploma. They can get better jobs, apply to colleges, and everything else gated by a diploma.
How can technology help out? Los Angeles built a website to help with the process. Know of any others?
Perhaps we could combine forces with the rest of the California Brigades and help out all the school districts? if we get enough momentum, perhaps we could automatically enroll all qualified students to get their diploma. We just push a button and hook every body up. That Mercury News article above makes it seem like it wont be that easy though.
