Recurring donation has stopped generating opportunities. #308

As far as I can tell, it looks as though the trigger on the recurring donation 
object has suddenly stopped firing. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Setting a field on donation to required or adding a validation rule can cause 
this behavior, since the trigger is trying to create Opportunities, but doesn't 
know about your required field.
