Is it an option to use different ports for different applications? I know on
Gitso,
it's not easy. Or I guess for the listener (Giving support) you can't change the
port, but for the rest of the options (Gitso getting support or other VNC
clients),
you should be able to configure the port.
I wasn't completely clear on the question, but does that get towards the issue?

I will try to reproduce my issue exactly later today. But if my memorie serves
me
correctly, gitso just refused to connect for giving support, even if the
tightvncserver was listening on a completely different port. I generally leave
the
gitso port alone (5500) and have tightvnc on a nonstandard port (51001).
I'll be back later with more details. Just to be clear: I meant to post this as
a
feature request, not a defect. I mean, without tightvncserver gitso runs fine
for me...
Thanks so far

I've tried again today (sorry for the long absence of comment). This is the
exact
situation:
I have a simple home network with a "server" on windows XP, a desktop, a media
pc and
a couple of laptops/netbooks. Using Gitso on any of the machines (both on
windows and
linux) works fine.
Gitso will not start the server for support on my server machine. There are two
situations where gitso fails to launch:
-> Tightvnc server is running. I start Gitso for support. Gitso reports:
"Starting Server...." and concludes: "Could not start server"
-> I hooked up a mouse and keyboard to the server and stopped tightvnc server. I
start Gitso for support. Gitso reports the same as above.
It seems like the processes of gitso of tightvnc are in eachothers way. I doubt
this
could be a port thing. Tightvnc is configured to run on 51001. Gitso connects
over
5500 (both succesfully portforwarded on my WRT54GL)
Please let me know if I can supply any more information.

Thanks for the detailed info. That seems strange. I'll do some digging around
and see
what I can find.
