Contatgion Engine's proliferate, then proliferate mechanism is broken #915

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Make a +1/+1 token deck (mine is modular/planeswalkers)
2. Get tokens onto your critters.
3. Use Contagion Engine multiple times, if you don't like waiting for the next
turn add the following (Tezzeret, the seeker; Myr Turbine; 2+ Battered
Golem/Grinding Stations; Clock of Omens.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should be offered to proliferate, that should complete then I should be
offered to proliferate again, including all selection of targets, as per DCI
rules. Instead, It will usually, if not always, proliferate once appropriately.
THEN it will go into some kind of crazy loop where it drops a bajillion
counters on everything that has a counter. Mind you this is EVERYTHING that has
a counter not just what you've selected. and I've seen it take an unmodified
creature stolen from my opponent's graveyard (2/2 I think + 1x +1/+1) and
turned it into a 22/22 the next turn it turned the same creature into a
102/102. I would definitely say that there's something wrong there.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.18.6

Please provide any additional information below.
I would imagine that there's probably a simple unclosed, "infinite" logic loop
happening. If I could figure out WHAT exactly it's duplicating for certain I'd
fill you in. But it definitely gets worse the more tokens there are. I could
not however say whether or not it is the exact number of tokens on a card after
the CEs initial proliferate. I've tested this with my Elf deck, which runs
Joraga's Warcallers, so I'm certain that it's not unique to my set up. The ONLY
card that is the same between the two decks is the Contagion Engine which I
added to the Elf Deck.

Update: In my Artsy Walkers deck; which is designed to put obscene amounts of
loyalty tokens onto planeswalkers, as well as, +1/+1 tokens on my few artifact
creatures, my artifacts turned into creatures, and the creatures I've milled
from my opponent's deck or killed and then reanimated; I can easily make this
loop last up to 5 minutes of continuously held down "perform this action" key
(whatever key that is Circle or 'X' I'd imagine). FIVE MINUTES.

im pretty sure this would corrected in current syn mtg.txt. it was a typo in
the card code.

I'm sorry. I'm not exactly up to date on the "resources" available for wagic
here. I'm assuming by the name that mtg.txt is a text file for the wagic game
system. The questions that present themselves are as follows: Where do I get
this "current syn mtg.txt"?; Is it a simple, overwrite the previous file, kind
of implementation? If not where do I find out about it? Are there too many
questions in this list? Does the Easter Bunny have a bad attitude? Are there
purple bunnies stealing your start button right now?. The universe reels from
the difficulty of answering these questions how am I to handle them by myself.
Anyways. Contagion Engine working right would be nice. I would prefer to use it
over my viral drakes. Twice the goodies.

in the forum there is a section for svn and coding. the first thread is an
indepth tutorial on how to build from the most current svn build which includes
many fixes done after the last release.

Thank you for the information :D and Boooooooo! for no chuckles :P No
seriously, that information will be very helpful. I don't think I'll jump on it
right now since it seems that I'll be redoing just about everything on my comp
in the next 2-3 weeks. I will DEFINITELY look into that after I'm set up
though, assuming the current issues are STILL issues with 8 cores and 16GB of
ram not to mention the GPU :P
