I have attached the screenshot for reference.
I'd look in your KMZ file and see what the <color>
tags are set to for alpha band which controls opacity. My guess is they are on the more transparent side which is causing them to show up as very undefined.

I am having the same issue. KML/KMZ file not displaying as an overlay.

After applying the KMZ file for Map overlay, they KMZ map is below the google Maps and hard to be visible
