These sorts of notes (including in the abstract) should be either footnotes or bibliography items:

Author name does not need to be bold:

However, DocBook does seem to lack a way to indicate the principal author (assuming that that is the reason for the bold).

mediaobject/caption probably should be figure/title (without '.'):

The DocBook stylesheets make caption look like an ordinary paragraph, which doesn't help.
