Communication Preferences

• I should be able to set communication preferences on Contact object. If the contact wants to receive emails, email field of the contact should be required. If the contact wants to receive calls/sms, phone field should be required.

• If one of the preferences is changed, email/phone fields should be validated again

Do you want to see different error messages for each communication type. (if the communication tool/tools is chosen, but the communication tool/tools information isn’t set) Or the one error message is enough for all communication type ?

Scenario Problem_1: Communication preferences is able to set on Contact object. Problem Solutions:

Problem Solution_1:

• Create multi pick-list field to choose communication preferences

Problem Solution_2(Chosen One):

• Create checkbox field for each communication preferences

Scenario Problem_2: If the contact wants to receive emails, email field of the contact should be required. If the contact wants to receive calls/sms, phone field should be required. And Scenario Problem_3: If one of the preferences is changed, email/phone fields should be validated again Problem Solutions for both of them :

Solution_1:

• If commination preferences is chosen or changed, it’s dependency field is required via validation rule

Solution_2:

• Create apex class (with method which control the communication choices and the required information is set or not, and give error message with addError() method)
• Create trigger which call the method in the class (before insert, before update) or create flow and, use flow apex action to trigger the class (class must use @InvocableMethod() annotation to call for flow)
