Delay when Typing in searchbox with big library #61

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

When typing in the Searchbox there is a delay, resulting in a frozen
application until the search results are shown.
Would it be possible to make the search asynchronous?

Ansonsten: Toller Audioplayer!

Version: 3.2 r549 (gleiches verhalten in 3.1)
OS: Linux Mint 14

I'm just interested: How many tracks do you have in your db and what machine do
you use?

14956 tracks
Laptop with Core 2 Duo T7250 @2.00GHz 4GB Ram
Graphics: Intel GM45 Express

Edit: Guayadeque said 14956, but Banshee didn't agree and raised 17840 but
sadly stopped working before reading the whole library.

FYI: Left of the search field there is a little orange "i", you can gather some
information there. But I don't need the exact value. I will think about a
solution for the problem

Then it's 14927, just for completeness.

In "Preferences" you can a find a new item now: "Library live search". Turn it
off, if search is too slow and press "Enter" after you typed some searchstring.
If I find a way that will increase search speed significantly i will let you
know.
