I wrote a wiki page here detailing some of the top level basic terminology around Matroska. But essentially they're big ol' XML files.

TODO: Finish Matroska overview page by including child types for Top Level Elements. They're currently buried in a weird ascii diagram, but a bulleted list should work just fine for us. Also, fix the markdown to make it more legible.

I've updated the markdown and added a simplified diagram of the Tracks Element children. The actual specification for each is verbose, and not strictly necessary for our purposes as of yet, so I just included a link to the relevant page for future reference. Personally I'll consider this closed after I've used each of the tools once.
