Benedict, that file doesn't contain all of the missing strings -- only the
strings
from when it was last updated. Please read this post:
http://code.google.com/p/google-highly-open-participation-mono/issues/detail?id=
8#c20
(comment 20)
If you have difficulties with building MonoDevelop from that SVN revision, you
can
wait a couple of days to start, and I'll generate the updated PO and POT files
for you.

I can do it on Monday when I'm at work -- I don't have the stuff set up on my
home
computer. I'll assume that the 5 days begins from when I post the files, if you
wish.

I'm in EST (GMT+5), so you'll be lucky if I'm in work by then :)
You could try building it yourself. You can get the source (it's EASIER for you
at
revison 90630) with the following commands
svn co svn://anonsvn.mono-project.com/source/trunk/monodevelop -r 90630
sudo apt-get build-dep monodevelop
./autogen.sh
then follow the instructions in po/README and in Issue #8 comment 20.
Someone in #monodevelop IRC (or #mono) may be able to help if you have
problems. I'll
probably be busy for the best of the weekend, sorry :-/

I understand. Since you're keeping us updated and no-one else is asking for this
task, I'll extend it as you ask (it's because of the Contest rules that we're
supposed to limit it to 5 days).
Some comments on the translation so far:
* You've missed a couple of "fuzzy" strings.
* There are several places where the original ends with a colon (":") and the
translation does not.
* There are places where the original begins with a capital letter (i.e. start
of
sentence) and the translation does not.
* Is "Layout" a German word?
* The underscore ("_"), which is used to indicated keyboard shortcuts, isn't
included
in amny of the translations.

Sorry that I' asking for time again,
but "poedit" -> I tried to use it today,
destroyed my copy of the de.po file.
I did have to start again with !all! expression,
but now I use gtranslator -> works fine
It will take a time to do all work again, maybe I'll finish this tomorrow
(Because
I've got school holidays now).
hope you can understand again :-)
-> I'll keep you up to date.

I claim this task until Benedict is workable again.
Original comment by Chaosmei...@msn.com
on 22 Dec 2007 at 6:59
Chaosmei...@msn.com: I'll have to put this through the "24 hours for a response"
process first.
Benedict: someone else is interested in this task, and you're over the GHOP time
limit already. Unless you post your work within 24 hours, I'm going to have to
re-open the task. Sorry!
Original comment by m.j.hutc...@gmail.com

NO problem - He wants to reserve me this task over chrismas time (I've got 500
strings missing) and I can't use my computer on the next three days.
when I can claim the task after holidays it would be nice. (Can I claim a task 2
times? when the otherone disclaims the task?)
Otherwise if it isn't ok here my first part of work.
-> I would like to disclaim the task.

Yes, you can reclaim a task.
As I understand it, you're asking a friend to claim this task -- and not do
anything
-- simply to stop anyone else from claiming it? I'm not sure how Google would
look on
this sort of collusion...
However, since you've done most of the work already, it'd wouldn't really be
fair to
let anyone else to take this task from you.

Hope you can claim it for the contest
-> there are less than 700 strings missing
Original comment by Benedict...@gmail.com
on 21 Jan 2008 at 6:52
There are 699 strings missing. But there are also 692 "fuzzy translations"
where the
translation is incorrect. Makes about 1200-1300 strings that have to be
translated
(not all the fuzzy strings are completely incorrect, but as far as I can tell
by now
most are).
Original comment by jo...@freienhofer.de
on 21 Jan 2008 at 6:18
Yes, fuzzy strings are fair game for the 'untranslated" total.
Please see
http://lists.ximian.com/pipermail/monodevelop-list/2008-January/007267.html for
information on the current state of the translations. All .po files in SVN aure
up-to-date with the source, and are now split into several parts. They can be
downloaded directly at
http://anonsvn.mono-project.com/viewcvs/trunk/monodevelop/ (in
the subdirectories listed in the email).
The msgmerge tool can be used to update your de.po file using the messages.po
reference catalogs. (please backup carefully beforehand :)
Original comment by m.j.hutc...@gmail.com
on 23 Jan 2008 at 1:09
I now have all the strings translated, and also corrected errors in the ones
that
were already marked as translated (spelling mistakes, incorrect translations).
So here are the translated .po-files (I used the msgmerge tool as you
described, so
now it are 4 files and not 1 big de.po-file anymore)

This is impressively complete, tied for first place with nl :)
I'll do a real review tomorrow, but I've already committed it to SVN so that
it'll be
in the RC1 release of MD 1.0.
