Port Wiimodelib to Linux. #44

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
The current Wiimodelib was designed to work on Windows, and it allows
developers to get information about the Wii remotes.

It would be very nice to have this library work out of the box on Linux on
any modern distro.

Resources:

Wiimote library page:
    http://www.codeplex.com/WiimoteLib

Article on using it:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/coding4fun/archive/2007/03/14/1879033.aspx

Estimated work:
If you are familiar with Bluetooth, about a week worth of work.
If you are not familiar with Bluetooth, add another week.
If you are not familiar with Linux-isms, add another week.

If it is not too much to ask, I would like to have an extension until
Friday/Saturday.

I ask for this because there does not seem to be much documentation for the
bluetooth
libraries for Mono, so I am having to spend extra time digging through the
insides of
the libraries and finding working examples (which are also in short supply.)

The due date is more for making sure a task doesn't get abandoned and we don't
track
it. If you need more time, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you keep us
updated
that you are working on it. It's still over a week away, let us know when it
gets
closer if it looks like you need more time. Thanks!

Oops, I misread the date, and somehow thought it was due the first of January.
My
mistake, sorry for the confusion.

I wish to drop this task so I do not hold things up, as I can not get the later
versions of Mono to work (my distribution came with an outdated version) or the
bluetooth libraries.

Is having a physical wiimote required for this task (I am currently assigned to
a
task already but I'm dabbling with the bluetooth libs.) ?
