microsoft (proprietary) settings sync maliciously disables this extension #1322

As we all know, the Microsoft's VSCode team has implemented a proprietary sync feature that is designed to lock-in user's data into azure and other microsoft services.

Today, I have found out that MSFT is now disabling this extension if the user enables the proprietary sync feature, which they push quite heavily and which data is not transparently synced.

My request is to have this extension proactively fighting against msft proprietary sync technologies.

How would you propose that be done? This extension is already fighting against the proprietary sync that it predates by existing. I propose that, in the spirit of the open source (which, I suppose, is what you stand for in opposition to evil, privacy invading proprietary technologies), you consider how you can help support this project or enhance/contribute to it. To quote the repo owner from #482:

I'm the only one adding the features and maintaining.

For the record, @pklamp, having your only account activity of 2021 be an issue which contains an unsolicited, misinformed, expletive-laden rant on the vscode repo which happens to also violate their Code of Conduct does not constitute a contribution in the spirit of open source. If you are going to do that, sure, go ahead and picket in front of MS HQ, just don't link it back to this project.
