Please is there still any developer interested in bringing this extension back to life?
There is still a group of people very interested in this extension!
First of all VS Code Sync does NOT provide the same features as the Sync Setttings extension. For example share developers settings with multiple clients (unified developers experience) is not possible with the general VS Code Sync. Furthermore, there is a new tool widely being used by a lot of DBA'ers called Azure Data Studio where the Sync Extension is the only one working!
